The Cornish are very, very territorial over their cream teas. So here we aim to help educate you on the ‘right; way of enjoying yours.
Whats is a cream tea?
It is a scone, topped with jam & clotted cream, served with tea, preferably Cornish tea.
What is clotted cream?
It is a gift from the food gods. It is milk, heated very slowly, and then cooled. A claim to fame is mother in law Judith Clemo has served her clotted cream to Prince Charles!
How do you eat a cream tea?
It is important you get this right. Just remember JAM FIRST. Cut the scone in half and spread with jam (more on this in a second) and then a very big dollop of Cornish Clotted Cream.
What jam?
So the flavour doesn’t matter but the quality does. We prefer to use our very own rhubarb jam. But if you cannot make your own then you simply must use Boddingtons Jam. Made down the road in Mevagissey it is the very best jam.
